I mean this to be informative rather than critical, but I really need mental health professionals to understand that sometimes when you say to a patient or client, "Your mind/psyche isn't as weird as you think it is. A lot of people feel this way and deal with these things," what we often HEAR is, "The struggles that you experience in social, academic, and professional situations are the same struggles everyone has and you're not succeeding because you're making excuses and/or being lazy. You're fine and you don't need any help or accommodations. It's your own fault you're not doing better in life."
And I'm pretty sure that's NOT the intended message. 💖
I really wish more people understood that the separation of church and state exists as much for the protection of the CHURCH as for the "state."
Do you really want any given party who may be in office to have legal authority to tell you how YOU and YOUR church should be conducting worship, regardless of whether their edicts align with your sincerely held beliefs? Because if you trust the government to be your priest or pastor, then fine, you're cool with a theocracy.
But if you DON'T trust any given politician to decide how YOU should worship your God, then you should absolutely be in favor of the separation of church and state.
There's nothing "racist" about not wanting your government to whitewash the diversity of your country.
I love living in a place that has room for a variety of cultures and backgrounds. That doesn't mean that I hate my own race. And being embarrassed at the bigotry and vitriol expressed by others of my race doesn't mean that I'm "ashamed to be White." It means I'm ashamed to be associated with hatefulness and narrow-mindedness, and that I see no reason to be "proud" of nothing more than my skin-tone lacking melanin.
About the stupidest thing I've seen out there is people saying "I went through the immigration process the right way and I don't have any compassion for these illegals."
Y'all ICE is trying to deport people with BIRTH CERTIFICATES PROVING THEY WERE BORN IN THE US. If you think your paperwork is gonna keep you safe you're DELUDING yourself. This regime DOES NOT CARE if you "did it the right way."
WAKE THE FUCK UP.
Fun fact, I take hormones. I have LOTS of cis friends who receive HRT (hormone replacement therapy) for a variety of reasons.
HRT does NOT make humans transgender.
HRT CANNOT make MICE transgender.
NO MONEY HAS EVER GONE TOWARD "MAKING MICE TRANSGENDER."
Research has been done on mice regarding the effects of HRT. None of it "makes mice transgender." Said research can be beneficial to trans folks. It is ALSO beneficial to the MANY MANY CIS FOLKS (that's "not transgender" for those of you who just can't bring yourself to acknowledge that cis is a descriptor and not a fucking insult) who take hormones for any reason.
So no, absolutely zero dollars has gone into "making mice transgender," and defunding research on the effects of hormone therapies will potentially cause future harm to ANYONE TAKING HORMONE THERAPY, including quite possibly YOU or someone you care about.
Also fuck propaganda. Stop swallowing lies just because someone claims they agree with your biases.

Hey.
You're reading this, which means you've gotten this far into the day.
Well done! Shit is hard. You're still kicking. That's all "succeeding at life" actually is.
All the other shit is just window dressing.

FYI, Literally no one is "making mice transgender." It's not actually possible to "make mice transgender."
Research HAS been done on the health effects of hormone therapy (which a LOT of people get who aren't trans, btw - particularly women dealing w menopause, PCOS, and hormone imbalances) on health, including some cancer research. This is actually important research to protect people from things like CANCER.
I don't know what the current admin has against cancer research but they're defunding it all over the place. I'm sure that won't cause any problems (sarcasm.) Not like anyone needs CANCER RESEARCH.
Hearing some of the American-conservative hate-on for Ukraine is just surreal. Like, the hell did they do to you? How did they hurt you by being invaded and having a despot bombing their cities and hospitals and killing their kids?
Oh, they need help. I forgot how much some folks despise people who need help. 🙄
Cool, I'm sure it's better for the country to cozy up to a dictator. (That's sarcasm. I'm doing a sarcasm. Because it's stupid.
Just wanna be clear.)
Random personal opinion: spin kills credibility and thus damages if not destroys the ability to have conversations and even debates. If your argument is provably factually inaccurate it doesn't matter how "right" you are, the conversation is done and nobody believes you.
That's why even when I understand the justifications for it and may agree with the POV of the person sharing the spin, I still hate spin. It's counterproductive. And I'd rather arguments I agree with not include spin. Because it ruins the point and keeps it from actually being heard and understood.
Just my opinion. I can see merits of it, but I hate it. Especially when "my side" does it.
It's probably also sometimes a necessary evil. But it's still like nails on a chalkboard for me.
If you suffer from anxiety in any real form and you do things that need to be done anyway even though they make your anxiety levels spike and kinda freak you out?
You, my friend, are a badass. Courage isn't the lack of fear, courage is doing things that you're scared of. EVEN IF THAT FEAR SEEMS "SILLY."
Doesn't matter. If it scares you and you do it anyway, you're a badass.
Yep. You.
Carry on. ;)

I didn't read about "making mice transgender." I'm not even sure what that would look like. I'd guess that treating male mice with female mouse hormones would create some physical and behavioral changes, but there's no way to determine whether those changes make the mice feel more like themselves or not.
