I mean this to be informative rather than critical, but I really need mental health professionals to understand that sometimes when you say to a patient or client, "Your mind/psyche isn't as weird as you think it is. A lot of people feel this way and deal with these things," what we often HEAR is, "The struggles that you experience in social, academic, and professional situations are the same struggles everyone has and you're not succeeding because you're making excuses and/or being lazy. You're fine and you don't need any help or accommodations. It's your own fault you're not doing better in life."

And I'm pretty sure that's NOT the intended message. 💖
