Hmmm. I've put a lot of work into following and interacting with folks I'd really like to talk to, and even so this new feed is becoming hellish.

I really want social networking for connection, not news reports and the associated panic. Everyone has to process differently, and I can really see the different ways people approach this dreadful political moment.

I'm probably going to have to start unfollowing folks. Please understand that it's not because of any ill will.

@Susan Rati Lane I wonder if part of the issue is getting a feed from Bluesky? I think people just behave a lot differently on those very public forums than they do in more private spaces. (Hence my interest in Friendica, while I've barely used my Bluesky account.) Can you tell if the larger proportion of angry politics come through one or the other social network?

The problem is that I only have like 5 folks who are fediverse accounts, so it's hard to compare anything. Bluesky is just another Twitter wannabe, and I hate Twitter's whole communication strategy. But in the absence of people to talk to, it's hard to do much with a social network.

I've been building up lists on bluesky to filter. Kind of awkward though

So, is the idea that you create different feeds with different people on them?

I wish there were a way to filter by keywords. A lot of folks post a mix of stuff, and that's what I'd expect them to do. Right now, I think my only option have to unfriend based on the percentage of content they post that I deem bad for my mental health, even when the rest of it is stuff I really want to read.

Yeah, I've got a "news" feed, as well as others that tell me how I know someone, but I generally restrict to "mutuals" (followed and following back). I agree a filter would be best

@Susan Rati Lane You can also make "channels" which are liked saved searches with complex criteria and limits.

@Susan Rati Lane Go to Settings, then Channels sidebar, then Add Channel. Your new channel shows up in the network sidebar.
